John is responsible for PEC's geographic information systems (GIS) work throughout the southern portion of PEC's region, producing maps and graphics to assist with the promotion of land conservation and the analysis of current and future land use trends. In addition, John produces content for PEC's website and assists with email and internet advocacy. In 2008, John was appointed by Charlottesville's City Council to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee to serve a three year term.
Prior to working for PEC, John worked in the advertising industry for six years in New York City, before going back to graduate school to receive his Masters in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. He is a graduate of Kenyon College with a B.A. in English. John lives with his wife, son, and daughter in downtown Charlottesville.
